Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) was the largest and most
influential radical student organization of the 1960s; soon polite protest
turned into stronger and more determined resistance as rage and
frustration that took over buildings all across the nation.

This was Norm Coleman's triumph, as hippie leader of Students for a
Democratic Society on the East Coast he led the campus-wide strike that
shut down the whole Hofstra University.  Norm Coleman himself lead the
take over of the Student Center and the Main Administration Building at
his Hofstra University.  Norm Coleman with his megaphone in hand lead
and directed the taking over the Student Center and the Main
Administration Building not caring that then and today this was a federal
crime.
